Welcome

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, the Serbian Society for Parasitology and the European Federation of Parasitologists (EFP), it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 13th European Multicolloquium of Parasitology, which will take place in Belgrade, Serbia, October 12-16, 2021.

We live in a rapidly changing globalized world. The ongoing climate change, migrations of both people and animals, globalization of food and change in food habits, all favor the persistence of parasitic infections at the global level as well as their re-emergence.

We tried to capture this in the motto of EMOP 2021. Moreover, this will be reflected in the exciting program on the latest scientific and technological developments, tackling major global issues such as Climate change and parasite re-emergence, Migrations and parasites, Food and Water-borne parasitology, the One Health approach to fight parasitic diseases. In addition, the geographical position of Serbia makes it natural for the region of South East Europe to be under the spotlight. The interdisciplinary conference will focus on human and animal health, but also on other fields in which parasites may be a challenge such as agri- and aquaculture, food technology and food industry.

As a major conference in the broad field of parasitology, EMOP 2021 will gather an impressive line-up of the globally most prominent experts, many of whom will be serving as plenary speakers, symposium organizers and invited speakers. The event will also host the annual meeting of the European Veterinary Parasitology College. As such an assembly of professionals, scientists and practitioners alike, EMOP 2021 will be of the highest interest to industry stakeholders such as pharmaceutical companies, medical laboratory equipment and reagent manufacturers, as well as publishing houses.

To all of which the city of Belgrade will be the perfect host: easy to reach, no visa required for most countries, and great value-for-money, which is particularly important for young researchers from all over.

To top this off, Belgrade is well known as a friendly and exciting city. So come join colleagues and friends, old and new, learn, socialize, and enjoy!

Looking forward to seeing you in Belgrade at EMOP XIII in October 2021.
